Singoda (Water Chestnut) Chaat

Ingredients:

  • 3 dried red chillies
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1 cup boiled water chestnuts (peeled)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2-3 green chillies, diced
  • Fresh coriander, diced
  • Salt, lemon juice, chaat masala (to taste)
  • Pomegranate seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Blend 3 dried red chillies and 1/4 cup peanuts into a powder.
  2. In a bowl, combine the boiled water chestnuts, diced onion, tomato, green chillies, and coriander.
  3. Add the spice powder, salt, lemon juice, and chaat masala. Mix well.
  4. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and extra coriander.
  5. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

A sweet dish made with singoda, this halwa is perfect for fasting or as a healthy dessert.

  • 1 cup boiled singoda (mashed)
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, etc.)
  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add the boiled singoda (mashed).
  2. Stir it well for a few minutes to cook the singoda.
  3. Add the milk and cook the mixture, stirring frequently.
  4. Add sugar and cardamom powder and cook until the mixture thickens.
  5. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm.

  • 1 cup boiled singoda (sliced or chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
